Food Is Not Your Enemy

Celebrity Yo-Yo Diets

So have you been following the diet sagas of Oprah? Kirstie Alley? Or maybe Valerie Bertinelli? You’re not alone. And if you’re struggling with weight yourself, you’re also not alone in finding these stories frustrating or downright annoying.

The New York Times’ piece this past week about America’s obsession with tracking the BMI of the rich and famous sheds light on how these stories can be very discouraging to people (women in particular). And it reinforces the idea that diets do not work in the long term–for anyone, even people with seemingly unlimited funds to spend.

To reach optimum health, we need to change the way we approach food–permanently. There are no short cuts. There are no magic cookies or drinks that will do this for you. But this process doesn’t have to be drudgery, either. It can be a source of great joy, with no guilt, shame, or remorse. If you’re ready to get healthy, and stay that way for the rest of your life, please contact me to set up a free one-hour consultation.
